If pick-up falls on a holiday, trash/recycling pick-up will be the following day beginning at 6:30AM.
The sanitation company will pick up only three containers per household.
If the sanitation company sees recyclable materials in your trash containers, they will not pick up that container.
- Co-mingled glass, plastic, aluminum, tin, newspaper and cardboard.
- Shredded paper can be bagged in plastic and placed with the refuse pickup or packed in a paper bag, stapled closed, and placed with the paper recycle pickup.
- NOTE: pizza boxes, cardboard, brown paper bags contaminated with grease, oil, etc, should not be recycled and should be disposed of with your trash.
Bulk Pickup
Barry Lakes L.C.P.O.A. sponsors an annual community bulk pickup day for a fee. Please watch the website and newsletter for dates and information.
You must register and pay for bulk pickup. Upon payment, you will be issued a sticker to be placed on the largest item. All refuse must be placed curbside.
Bulk pickup consists of household items such as furniture, chairs, tables, beds and mattresses. Carpet should be cut into no longer than 6fd lengths, rolled into manageable bundles. Household appliances such as washers, dryers and dishwashers.
Air conditioners, refrigerators and dehumidifiers will also be picked up; however, they must have a sticker on the that states all freon has ben removed by a professional (appliance repairman) otherwise, it will not be picked up.
Restrictions
The following items will not be collected: Tires, automotive parts, hazardous waste such as paint and stains, building materials, grass & vegetation, electronics (computers, monitors, televisions, DVD players, etc.
Town & County Disposal
Township Recycling & Shredding
Recycling can also be taken to the township recycling center located at 21 Church Street. Visit the Vernon Township Recycling Center website for hours of operation and information.
SCMUA Landfill
Large items, furniture, electronic waste, etc... can be taken to the Sussex County landfill in Lafayette, NJ. Visit the SCUMA website for hours of operation and information.
